PastPoop7/12/2003-Mucosal DelugeMisery and me. I`ve been stricken with what has become the annual or semi-annual bane of my existence. My nose is belching extreme volumes of goo. My head feels as though someone has inflated a balloon inside. My throat is rough and abrasive and I am constantly in the throes of a cough. The common cold is upon me and it seems I can find no relief. I believe I have traced the origin of my discomfort to Monday afternoon. One of my co-workers at the office had returned from the extended holiday weekend with a little souvenir from Oregon. At lunch, I had a fleeting premonition but it was quickly dismissed.  As the week progressed, the annoyance increased. The minor nasal leakage of Tuesday had become an incredible torrent. Cranial pressure was on an exponential climb. When does the hurting stop? Not yet apparently. Finishing out the workweek was a chore. Lack of suitably soft absorbent materials turned my nose into a raw, pulsing protrusion on my face. At one point, I was forced to use toilet paper. Besides the fact that it has the absorbent quality of notebook paper, it also had the texture of sandpaper. My nose was not pleased.  So here I sit, on the weekend no less, recovering from my affliction. I have neither the energy nor the desire to complete my weekend to-do list or get out of bed, for that matter. All in all, an experience I would have rather done without. Anyone want this sandwich? ... I only sneezed on it once -MongledMonkey |
